Euro-Chic Look
I saw a beautiful blouse with ruffle accents on a French influencer I follow on instagram and immediately knew I wanted a top just like it. After some searching, I seriously thought about buying the Carnation Blouse by The Fabric Godmother since it was very similar in design, but since I wanted a hidden placket and would need to modify it anyway, I decided to save my money and work with a pattern I already owned, Simplicity 1538.
I hadn’t done a hidden placket in a while, so I watched a YouTube video to refresh, and then cut it a little bigger than they recommended as I needed to add an extra cut and seam to insert to ruffle. I shortened the cuffs on the sleeves by an inch so that the ruffles there wouldn’t be too long, and I shortened the length of the shirt by 3” (it was really long!). Overall, it wasn’t that hard to modify and didn’t take much extra time.
I love how it turned out, and if I don’t look like I could belong in a Parisian cafe, don’t tell me!
