Lace Pants

I saw a pair of lace-trimmed pants on social media, and really wanted to give them a try. The ones I saw were from Anthropology and had lace down the front without fabric underneath and shorts lining (which really made the lace stand out), and another piece of the same lace and entredeaux lace towards the hem. However, I was unable to find natural colored entredeaux lace to match my fabric, and I couldn’t think of how to practically incorporate semi-sheer pants into my everyday life, so I modified the idea a bit.

I still ran the lace down the front, but I left the fabric underneath. I did do the lace at the back of the hem as a cutout (which took a little finagling to figure out how to finish it off, but it worked!), but I decided the entredeaux trim was a lost cause. I still really liked the look it gave the pants and wanted to do something, when I came across the idea of using a wing needle. I watched a couple YouTube tutorials to help me figure out the best stitch pattern, and I really like how it turned out. It’s not as dramatic as the lace, but it gives an extra detail. It wasn’t hard to use - the key to getting the right look was picking a stitch with a “center” stitch, with the thread pulling from several sides to make the hole bigger.

I really like how these turned out, and I love having my own version of these RTW pants.
