Classic Blue Button Down

I haven’t made a button-down shirt in a while, and I had forgotten how much time and effort goes into one! I very much needed a new classic shirt in my clothes repertoire, and since blue is one of my absolute favorite colors and goes with just about everything, I hunted up this blue cotton oxford cloth and got to work.

I used Butterick 6085, which I’ve owned for years and love for its notched collar and darts. It fits really well and tucks in nicely or it can be worn untucked, as the darts keep it close to the body. I did lengthen the sleeves and put a cuff on them as I wanted a shirt for cooler weather.

Another reason I wanted a blue button down was to recreate a Pinterest look I had seen a while back - check out my Instagram to see how I styled it with this skirt from last fall!
