Linen Pants

I couldn’t pass up this fabric when I saw it… fantastic color and amazing texture… perfect for a pair of relaxed pants! I came across Simplicity pattern #3105 while looking for options and decided it would be gorgeous in this 100% linen fabric.

This pattern was really fun in how it came together. The pleat in the front gets enclosed by the waistband, and the elastic looks dressier instead of pajama pants-like. I made my own bias tape from the same fabric to finish off the seams since I don’t have a serger, but even doing that made this project only take about two hours.

The only change I would have liked to make (and I did in a pair of shorts I made from this pattern - check my Instagram to see those!) is to use non-roll elastic. I was worried it would be too heavy, but the braided kind I used wanted to roll a bit until I tacked it down at the sides (whereas, I didn’t have to tack the non-roll down. Also, I used 3/4” for the non-roll to prevent it being too bulky).

I love how these pants turned out, and I think I can wear them well into September thanks to the color being a good neutral for fall!
