Pink Linen Dress

I actually started this dress last summer, but got bogged down by the fact that this pattern (Butterick 6676) simply did not fit me well. It kept wanting to gap in places, and fixing one problem seemed to create a new set of issues. I ended up setting it aside for the winter and picking it up again this spring (I was NOT going to give up on it, because it is such a pretty pink 100% linen, and those are pricy and hard to come by…), and decided I wanted it done in time for Easter this year. Sometimes it pays to be stubborn about goals, because I am very happy with how this turned out in the end!

My biggest fitting issue was that I could not get the front neckline to not bow out several inches once I got the rest fitted. I finally ended up putting a couple small darts in it to help keep it flat. If I had done a mock-up, I would have been able to eliminate them, but since I never dreamed it would be so frustrating I didn’t bother with one, so I guess they’ll stay!
