Five Favorites - Spring Edition
Pressing Ham and Roll - I was gifted these for Christmas, and not only are they pretty, but they are so helpful that I can’t believe I’ve been seeing this long without these tools! I’ve always just “made do,” but I’ve already used them on several projects, and I don’t think I can go back…
Blue Shirt - Do you think it’s possible to have a “soul pattern?” One that is just perfect for you? I have never had this happen before, but I made this pattern for the first time (Simplicity 9470 in a size 8), and it needed NO adjustments! I put the zipper in and tried it on, and couldn’t believe it. Nothing needed to be tweaked, pulled out, redone… amazing! Easter Cookies - Isn’t this idea cute?! I found it on Pinterest, and you actually push the M & Ms in after the cookies are done baking. I used semisweet chocolate chips instead of the white ones they showed, mostly because I like darker chocolate better, but you could definitely do white chocolate and keep the pastel look for spring too!
Organizing - I am moving this month, and this has forced me to really clean up my sewing area. I usually care more about being organized than about “clean,” but I decided to invest in various storage options to make the move easier. My favorite purchase so far is an old cigar box for storing my thread in…
Cecil B. DeMill’s “The Ten Commandments” - this movie was always on TV Easter weekend when I was growing up, and we were allowed to watch part of it, and then recorded the rest to watch later when it got too late. You can still find me watching it that weekend, though I don’t have to sit through commercials anymore! And maybe I’ll have the chance to make one of Nefertiti’s or Lydia’s beautiful outfits one of these years…
