The Easiest to Knit Scarf Ever

I made a white scarf back in college that I love and still wear all winter long, and I remembered it as being simple to make and that it didn’t really need blocking. I had wanted to make another for a couple years now, and I went through all my knitting stuff and my mom’s without success in finding it. I tried a couple different ones I found in her stash that seemed like it, but none quite worked out. I figured my options were to pull out a few rows myself and see if I could figure it out (and risk not being able to get it back together), or beg my extremely talented coworker to take a look at it (and if she took some out, she’d be able to get it back together for sure!).  I decided the latter option was a sure thing and asked her if she’d trade me knowledge for dinner (since she’ll never take payment for that sort of thing but will let you take her to dinner). She was happy to take up the challenge, and already the next day texted me to let me know she had it figured out.

She wrote out the pattern for me, and I now have it written down in three different places so I don’t lose it again. Here it is:

Cast on

Row 1: K2, YO, K1, *S1, K2tog, PSSO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1*, repeat between the asterisks until two stitches from end, then YO, K2

Row 2: Knit across.

Repeat until scarf is as long as desired, then cast off using method of choice.

Index:

K = Knit

YO = Yarn Over

S1 = Slip 1 Stitch

K2tog = Knit two stitches together as one

PSSO = Pass Slipped Stitch over the next stitch you knit
