Five Favorites - Winter Edition

Bee Themed Accessories - I only have one room that is “themed,” and that is the bathroom. It kind of just happened by accident (I found the shower curtain hooks first, and I decided to roll with it), but I really like how it turned out! I ordered most of my things (towels, shower curtain, tiles, soap dish, etc.) from Etsy, but I made these hot tool protectors and makeup bags to go in it. I am absolutely paranoid about accidentally leaving any of my hot tools plugged in when I leave home, so I’m hoping that these will help trigger my memory that they are off and tucked away. I needed new bags to hold some hair and nail care accessories, and I fell in love with Moda’s “Honey and Lavender” collection, so I paired a couple of them with some other coordinates to make a couple bags from Simplicity pattern #9310 (views E and G). I think they look really cute - I am trying to keep the bee theme subtle, and I think this fabric did the trick.

Red Nail Polish: I LOVE red nail polish! I wear it all year long, but I think they’re especially perfect for the winter holidays. Here are a few of my favorite shades (from left to right on my nails):

OPI’s “Affair in Red Square” - This has been my go-to for YEARS, and I get so many compliments on it. I think it’s the perfect shade of red!

OPI’s Raisin Your Voice -  Deeper and bluer-toned than “Affair.” True "blood red" shade.

Priti NYC’s “Red Rose Ace” - This is the replacement I found for my favorite matte red (by the same company called “Queen of the Night Tulip”), which was discontinued. It’s a really rich matte shade.

Mooncat’s “Bottled Rage” - so deep it nearly looks black.

Pressed Juice: I really don’t drink anything except water, herbal tea, and coffee, but last time I got a cold, I found myself craving fruit. Any fruit or fruit-flavored edible (the more tropical, the better) suddenly sounded fantastic, and I really didn’t want to go the candy or sugar-filled drink route, so I found Evolution cold-pressed fruit juice smoothies. I don’t have them every day, but when I want something intensely fruity, this is what I grab.

Sewing Set: How pretty is this sewing set?! A friend gave it to me for Christmas, and I just love how it looks. She apparently tracked it down on Pinterest, and said it was quite a bit of work to find, but I’m glad she did!

Puzzle: Some friends give me this sewing themed puzzle (knowing puzzles are one of my weaknesses!), and it is so beautiful I just might have to frame it….

(Just things I am enjoying, not profiting in any way from this post)
